Posted by Marijn - Sunday October 19 @ 15:39 As you've probably noticed, for the past time there were almost zero updates to Net-Force. Having a day time job as software engineer, I can't seem to find the time and energy to work on Net-Force in the evening hours. I still think Net-Force is a really cool project, that taught me a lot of stuff (I'm now the 'security dude' where I work :)). My apologies to everyone who tried to contact me and thanks to all users and admins for keeping Net-Force alive. So in the near future I'm going to assign some admins and give the current admins more rights to handle the daily tasks. Also, I will be more online on IRC and Net-Force and fix the few challenges that are broken now. Help out: If you like to blow new life into Net-Force by managing the community, posting security news, and maybe coding some challenges or new features, please contact me! We have a lot of great plans, but not enough time. |

Thanks for such a great news (News of the year i guess) :)
and I think, most of the members'll love contributing their part for NF, so do I...
sweet!
:) glad that there's finally some new activity
Yay, Marijn has spoken.
lol i thought marijn was extinct too
Three years (or so) ago Marijn would've taken a look on 2 new (simple) challs i've made / taken with permission.
... Three years are over fast.
Does this mean that my donation will be accepted again? :D
Nice, I hope the library will expand a bit...
stop hoping start doing
*cough* Poke *cough*
some 25 days later...
he may not be free like u n me n mr sarcasm :)
a few points:
- try to use instead of letters
- don't talk about what you do not know
Google knows everything ;-)
it's not so much about being free, as it is about choices and doing what you say you will do.
hmmmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmm
ah well... dropped a mail a month ago.. still no answer...
Let's keep counting: almost 6 weeks have gone by...
jup.. :(

Pfff, man...
If priorities are not here, then hand the stuff over(or at least give someone svn access so challenges can be fixed).
So true
Indeed...
If this goes on any longer maybe we should start a new community :/
Maybe someone of us should check if there are some insecurities that can be exploited ;-)
2009 = Net-Force v3? :)
About the "Start Flashing" challenge.. it isn't really broken, just a bit harder to accomplish ;)
There is a variable that was correctly set in the beginning, now you can set it yourself in the browser addressbar "javascript:var myMovie = 'chal'"
I will try to update the broken code next week.
I'm willing to participate, even in new community.

Time spent 3 minutesWow, you are easy to convince.
Are we still hiring?
lol... guess not...
No it's crisis, haven't you heard..
Infact we are trying to let go 5 of our zero current admins ;-)
ghah.
Is he just being ignorant?
Or does he live in a cave or did he get abducted by the secret service?
bawwww
He's always ignorant ;)
gheh we could try hacking net-force and take matters in our own hands :p
Marijn probably wouldn't even notice it!
and how many of you actually contacted marijn offering to help?
I did
* anonymous raises hand
@rhican:
I did several times, not a single response.
So I'm not solely whining about things, but actually willing to help.
meh then i have nothing
Why doesn't Marijn hand over NF to someone else, like BasThijs did before, when he noticed he didn't had the time to run NF?
Way better off with the old NF!!
* anonymous seriously thinks that, we should stay here, and wait for the good times to come :)
there is no point leaving NF because of Marijn's (temporarily) busyness... all it takes us to login, check forums, read/reply and logout... no? :D
* XaVeRiuS comes by from time to time, sees nothing's changed yet, whistles, and goes on...
Yea..
oo yea
yeps
9 months have passed... it's about time something (wether it be good or bad) starts to happen overhere...
For those who wanna be the next admin, go tell Marijn again and again and again...
For the rest of us, just continue filling up the forums and continue solving those challenges that doesn't need to be fixed first... Let's at least keep the community alive...
(anyone up for a net-force users-group-meeting? last time at Marijns house was a lot of fun, but we can do that as well without Marijn)
Busy
I've been quite inactive the last few months, but I keep on looking whether something's changing here - I'll be back when things start moving again...
In the meantime, if there were to come a meeting, I might drop by, if it's in BE (preferrably Ghent city) ;)
Cheers!
You're gonna host it in Ghent?
hello ppl
how are you all?
long time no see
helluuwwzzz :-)
things are pretty dead over here, as i read all these comments!
Everybody has to be aged by now, since the start of NF :-) hehe
just passing by to say hello :-)
Yawn, still wandering around here....

So he know what's going on.
Too bad he doesn't care, obviously.
Look how fast the years go...
Hi everyone,
como estas?
Good to hear I'm not the only one who feels slightly nostalgic right now :)
Saturday the 19th we'll held our annual "Have you seen Marijn-event"!!! Tickets available at Marijn's
Will there be free beer and 3D goggles available at said event? -If so: rock on!
I'd love beer... but 3D goggles? not sure why we need them to see Marijn?
So how did this event go?
This site is slowly dying...
Ugh DRaakje, it IS dead.
Or at least in a very deep coma.
I contacted Marijn (via Hyves: he is a webdeveloper there I discovered).
When I mailed him, I almost instantly got a response. When I got confirmed he was the Marijn of NF, I immediately asked what he is going to do about the whole situation: We got a couple of people in here who want to help, but he is refusing any access to the repository.
So I asked him how we can continue to get this site out of it's coma, without his presence.
He asked me a couple of day to think. After 3 days I messaged him again, and received a message stated "I was precise man" and said he had a couple of deadlines to meet. He wanted more time. After two weeks, I mssg'ed: no response. After 4 weeks I mssg'ed, no response.
You could say he doesn´t want to do anything for NF anymore.. or maybe I am wrong, and he´ll have a webteam introduce themselves.
*Sigh*
BasTijs handed the stuff over when he got in this situation. I don't think he would have done that if he knew it would come to this.
:(
Sounds bad, its a shame and I am curious what he wants do with this as its clearly not a priority for him. I wish he would just hand over the "keys" and get this site back on the road...
I think he is very reluctant to just hand over the keys.
I hope he does though :( ....
I have been here from the beginning *points to userid* , and I'll stay here to the end.
I don't get why he made this post and then didn't follow through....
i wanna eat a soft-snake :)
NF started as a nice community, where members worked together in the forum, and all users where active.
It ends with a multinational inactive site, withs hundreds of inactive members, with admins and mods who don't login for months...
Conclusion? NF v2 should never have been born at all...
To bad for the members who spent hours and hours for creating this once so perfect community!!
I agree with that.
Why don't we migrate back to NFv1?
2004 was the first and best year for me at NF, the years later it went down in a downside spiral..
I would say go ahead and migrate all you want. Do something besides bitching about an inactive website.
I don't even mind if you blame me for everything.
Everything is rhican's fault.
yeah, he is solely responsible for all this mess ^^
Okay, if you mail me the FTP & database credentials and the sourcecode of NF v1 I will begin tonight.
hah i figured you were going to be lame like that and say you'll migrate if you get everything handed to you.
heh I can see that you're a smart guy.
Let's adore http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://net-force.nl
meh.
It's official: Marijn doesn't really care.
meh²!
am i hired? i had sent my resume 2 years back...still no news..i need a job quickly :-(
will 'soon' be quick enough?
